I suspect this has been previously answered but I haven found it. Can anyone recommend which Airport Express bus to use from Shandwick Place in Edinburgh's City Centre to the Edinburgh Airport? I have found 2 options .. Airlink 100, Bright Bus, but details of where the exact pickup location is and the schedules are evading my best efforts. Also, has anyone walked the route from near King's Stable Road to either bus stop? Comments are appreciated. Thank you or your input.
If I'm not mistaken you should be able to catch the tram 5 minutes from your door.
You should take the tram, not a bus: https://www.edinburghairport.com/transport-links/trams
It runs frequently - something like every 10 or 15 minutes? Schedules are posted and you get a ticket at the kiosk right at the stop.
Both services stop at Stop SD Shandwick Place- see this Google Maps extract, blow it right up to see the exact location- https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Shandwick+Place+https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Shandwick+Place+(Stop+SD)/@55.949753,-3.2114129,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x4887c7a2cd0f2207:0x3cbbb3368113503e!8m2!3d55.949753!4d-3.208838!16s%2Fg%2F1q67w58pv?entry=ttu
This is the Airlink 100 timetable showing every stop- hopefully showing Shandwick Place as the 2nd line down- https://www.lothianbuses.com/timetable/?service_name=100
This is the Bright Bus timetable- treat Shandwick Place as 2 minutes after Waterloo Place- https://www.mcgillsscotlandeast.co.uk/services/MESC/AIRX?date=2024-05-18&direction=outbound
Thank you all so much. What a treasure trove of info and experience.
All these people who suggest the tram have simply not read your question or looked at the map. It is significantly further to walk to Princes Street or West End Tram Stops than to Shandwick Place Bus Stop, from King's Stable Road.
The scheduled tram travel time is 29 minutes from West End due to the route and frequent stops for locals use. The travel time on the bus is 18 minutes because it is a dedicated airport express- for another query I have just been looking at satellite tracking for the bus, and it even achieved a 23 minute timing in last Friday morning's peak period- just slightly delayed.
As airport buses they have lots of dedicated luggage stowage.
