Where to stay for 2 nights while visiting Isle Of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle?

Was wondering what town would be best to use that would be a good home base for visiting this area.

We need a fairly modern hotel because my hubby has mobility issues and requires a handicap accessible bathroom.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

He is so excited about the Castle. It's on his bucket list. My 72 year old mom wants a day of driving to explore the Isle of Skye because Pinterest is making her do it LOL

I went to VisitScotland the accommodations tab. I think searched on Skye and then refined the search to limited mobility. Look under facilities. 5 places came up. And that was with no dates, so I think you may be limited in your choices and would suggest jumping on this quickly. And as I look more closely, 4 of them are self catering and may not work. So, I think I would check on Viewfield House. But do look at the search. I used limited mobility as the criteria--Under Facilities and then accessibility--and you might choose something else.

It can be a bigger town outside of this exact area where there would be more modern hotels and are within reasonable driving distance (1 to 1 1/2 hrs or so)

Expanding the territory to a 1.5 to 2-hr drive would give you options in Invergarry and Fort Augustus, so I'd suggest an online search for those towns.

In Dornie, right near the castle, the Dornie Hotel is very good and affordable, but unfortunately they have no rooms on the ground floor (a common situation in Scotland, I find -- probably due to dampness) and I don't think they have rooms w/accessible bathrooms. But you might call and ask them for suggestions. If you're driving through, their restaurant/pub is very good.
