Buy from Vodaphone. Do NOT ever buy from O2 because they are very DISHONEST. O2 lied to us about using their SIM card to make international phone calls and then refused to refund our 30£ when we returned to the O2 store immediately after learning the truth from the Apple Store. Avoid O2 like the plague it is!!!
That's interesting because I used an O2 SIM while in London a while back and I was very satisfied with it. Did you get the International Bolt-on and remember to add the country codes to the phone numbers in your contact list?
The difference is you were in London but we were in Edinburgh, where no add in for international calls was available, just an app which did not work on our IPhones. We then went to Vodaphone and easily got the international call add in we wanted from the onset. The female manager at O2 was horrible so O2 should be avoided like the plague it is. We have had no problems at all with Vodaphone which is far superior to O2.
Carphone warehouse are probably the best folk to get advice/buy from .
I agree that Carphone Warehouse is excellent. We used CW in Dublin but it was a few miles from Edinburgh Airport and thus not convenient as we did not have a vehicle. Vodaphone was the most convenient for us to use as it (and O2) was nearest to our hotel. I also recommend CW if it is convenient to your location.
I live in the USA and own an iPhone. ATT tells me it will work in Scotland if I buy an international plan for $40. ATT told me I will be able to call from Scotland to the US as well as local calls. Can anyone confirm this to be true?
What you were told is similar to what we were told about our IPhones by our carrier Verizon. However on our most recent visits to Italy , Ireland, and Scotland we found that buying and inserting a local SIM card was a better deal. You need to compare the specifics of what ATT is offering to what you can get by buying a local SIM card at your destination. The foregoing presumes your IPhone is unlocked.
