Has anyone done the walking tour of Glasgow for 90 minutes? My husband and I are thinking of doing that our first day in Scotland to keep us awake after our flight from US. We land around 10:15 and the tour is at 2 pm. Worth it? or should we do some exploring on our own? I now we will be tired, but need to stay awake and go to bed at a reasonable time. We haven't been to Scotland for 9 years, so we can't remember well how it went. I know we will be excited to be there. We leave the next day for Oban via train, figuring a quick nap on the train might be in order. If I remember well, we have a much easier time when we get there than when we get home. We have a full schedule, going from Glasgow to Oban on our way to spend two nights on Iona, then going on to Windermere, England for three nights, and back to Glasgow for two nights before returning home. I had considered doing our own tour our first day of the Necropolis and the Cathedral. When we return before going home we plan on getting to Kelvingrove and the west side of the city. This is a trip that was postponed for two years due to a freak accident back then, so more than ready to visit the beautiful countryside. Your input is appreciated and very helpful.

I haven’t done the walking tour so I can’t really comment on that. However, we enjoyed just walking along pedestrian streets like Buchanan. Maybe after lunch a walk, about 20 or so minutes, to the Cathedral and a walk up to the Necropolis. Sounds like a great 1st day.
I agree with holding off on Kelvingrove until you return. We enjoyed the museum and then the walk along the River through the park. We walked to Glasgow University and went to a very nice art museum featuring several Whistler paintings.
Whatever you decide I’m sure it will be great. We were there in ‘24 for two nights and enjoyed it.

My 2024 RS Scotland Guidebook has two detailed walks in Glascow. The downtown one starts at the train station. From the airport, you'd take a bus to the bus station, which is midway on this walk. There's a separate walk in the West End, which features University of Glasgow.
