Tunes of Glory

Recently returned from the UK , including a month in Scotland with " A smile on my lips , and a tear in my eye " , I would like to share my first impression of Scotland - In 1960 , at the age of fourteen , I first watched this brilliant film . starring John Mills and Alec Guiness , portraying two men commanding a Scottish battalion at the end of the second war , one as acting colonel , and the other as his formal , named replacement . Filmed in great part at Stirling Castle , it has stayed with me through countless viewings . For anyone with an interest in Scotland , it is well worth seeing ,and while it is a fictional story ,there is much truth in it. It is currently available on Youtube - http://youtu.be/cN9JBMK-O9s I hope that readers here will take the time to watch this magnificent film . Best to everyone for the New Year .
