Hi,
Has anyone stayed here?? If so, what is it like and is it less than an hour from Inverness??
Thanks,
Kathy

I haven't, but from the reviews on TripAdvisor it looks wonderful. If you're driving from Inverness and don't take any wrong turns, it should be possible to get there within an hour. Caveat, it depends if you're starting from the other end of Inverness during a heavy traffic time of day. It looks like it will take a bit of navigating on small secondary roads once you reach Dingwall.
By comparison, I have stayed at Stonefield Castle Hotel near Tarbert (Argyll-Kintyre) and it was nice but not fabulous. The plumbing in our room was leaky, the property was renovated some time around 1970 which detracts from its historic atmosphere, and they accidentally charged us a higher rate until I pointed out the error. Not that I wouldn't stay there again -- compared to other options in the area it is probably the best -- but neither was it a perfect dream vacation experience.
Hi epltd,
Thanks for your comments. We will be driving in from the Isle of Skye. Then we will be visiting in and around Inverness the next day or so. Then on to Stirling, I believe. In Inverness we definitely want to visit Culloden and Cava Cairn. Somewhere @ Stirling, I want to visit Finnich Glenn.

On your day visiting Culloden Battlefield and Clava Cairn, you may want to also see Cawdor Castle. If you don't have time to take the tour inside, you can park for free and have a look at their herd of highland cows ("hairy coos").
While we did not stay there, we did stop by to see the place. It definitely looks like an interesting place to stay, and it's definitely less than an hour from Inverness.
Hi epltd, We certainly want to do that castle. We want to see some
'hairy coos" too :))

Hi Steve, Glad you said it looks interesting. Interesting is what we want. Hope it turns out to be a great stay.
