Traveling from Glasgow to Edinburgh on New Year's Day-Question

My wife and I are planning on taking the train from Glasgow to Edinburgh on New Year's Day. What, if anything, will be open? I'm primarily interested in a place to get groceries. Thanks!

Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Scotland are open (from 11am and noon respectively) - I've just checked those two.

For food stores, then the smaller food stores, which is mostly what you find in the city centre, are open (or the Tesco ones are, anyway, checked them so assume other chains will be). But the full sized big stores are closed that day.

What isn't running (anywhere in the Country) is any train service at all on Scotrail. You have to route via Lockerbie on Avanti or Trans Pennine, at huge expense. However Scottish Citylink are running coaches (buses) every 30 minutes which take about 90 minutes for the journey- https://www.citylink.co.uk/media/lmpdauw3/web_900-january-1.pdf
