I will be driving from Edinburgh to LHR with a stop overnight in Liverpool. What should I see along the way?
See comments on your other post about taking the train. Edinburgh to Liverpool - see Hadrian’s Wall or the Lake District. Liverpool to Heathrow - visit Oxford.
I already reserved a car. Thanks for the feedback.
If you are picking up your car in City Centre as I did last week, be prepared for a wait or be one of the first in line when they open. It took me nearly an hour to get through it all and checked out.
As for places, clearly, Hadirian's Wall is worth a stop. There is a great new book on the Debatable Lands--the border near Carlisle. Check out Fraser's book Steel Bonnets across the Border. Hermitage Castle is very brooding and evocative. Think about visiting one of the Abbey's. In England near Keswick there is a lovely stone circle, Castlerigg.
You should think about posting in the England Forum as well.

not to pop the bubble for driving SCotland Liverpool Heathrow, but I hate the M6 at the moment. itis nothing but construction area after area. It is truly diabolical.
I strongly suggest from personal experience that you take your time estimates from google or via michelin and double them.
