Is there more than one car ferry route to the isle of mull ?
Hi, reganclan,
Yes, there are several. The main one is from Oban to Craignure. The others are from Kilchoan to Tobermory and Lochaline to Fishnish. The latter two are not as easy to get to, but the drive to get there is pretty spectacular, especially to Kilchoan.
Hope that helps.
Best wishes,
Mike (Auchterless)
I tried to buy tickets today from Lochaline to Fishnish for May 23rd. It said there are no ferries running. Any reason you would know for that to be?
Firstly because times are not in the system until 18 February. Secondly this is a turn up and go route- you can't book a specific sailing, only for the day. That is because this is a route that does not normally get full. There should always be space on any given sailing. If not you just wait in line for the next sailing.
Thank you!! That is very helpful to know!! Do you know how often they go? There are no times listed at all.
Never mind. You answered the question above!! I will check back after February 18th.
Lochaline to Fishnish is every 45 to 60 minutes, Tobermory to Kilchoan is every 90 minutes to 2 hours (due to being a longer crossing). Both routes are pretty resilient as they are in fairly sheltered waters, the Fishnish route especially is rarely cancelled by weather. It is almost the last route in the system to close being in the very sheltered Sound of Mull.
