We have a tour set up at the Balvenie distillery at 10:00 am and will be leaving our hotel. Google maps says it will take 3 hours 10 min, via the A9, to get there without stops. Is this true?

I think that it accurate. In fact right now it is showing 3 hours and 18 minutes...I just via michelin and they say 4 hours. You need to be up at the crack of dawn.

would seem reasonable but give yourself a bit extra time as the road from Haymarket can be quite busy though you will be going in the opposite direction of the main traffic, and yes the traffic can be busy in the city at that time of morning
