Late Oct-early Nov. four of us will be spending several days in central Edinburgh and then going to the Glasgow airport for a trip to Islay. Return trip will be from Glasgow airport to a hotel near Edinburgh airport for flight back to US the next day. We're thinking of the train and then a bus or cab on the way but are unsure what would be best between the airports on the way back (early evening). Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Since there are four of you, I would be tempted to take a cab from the Glasgow Airport to the Buchanan Bus Station (Glasgow) where there is a bus to the Edinburgh airport about every 30 minutes that takes about an hour. Last bus around midnight.
