We’re staying overnight in Ary, after traveling there by train. What is the best way to get to Culzean Castle (and back to Ayr)?
Hi, Elizabeth,
The Stagecoach number 60 bus (for Girvan) stops upon request at the entrance to Culzean Park. However, it's still a bit of a walk to the castle from the bus stop. If you want to spend the time to explore the park, the castle, the beach, and the cliffs, you'd be better served taking a taxi from Ayr. It's about 10 miles out, so it wouldn't be that expensive.
If you do decide to take the bus, it runs about once an hour, and leaves from stance number six at the Ayr bus station.
I hope that helps.
Best wishes,
Mike (Auchterless)
The 60 bus takes about half an hour to get within about a 20 minute walk of the castle. On the plus side that is quite a nice stroll through the country park
Thanks so much for the information.
