Hi Jim, they're Toronto based not U.S. based, but DH Tour works with U.S. clients and focuses on the UK and Ireland. A group I traveled with a few years ago used them as a North American agent for a specialized tour we took in England. They work with independent travelers and groups.

Don’t forget to look at visiting Wales during your trip. It would be a shame to miss it when you are visiting the other countries.

Jim, most posters here either do their own planning or travel on a Rick Steve's tour or both.
What type of help do you want from a travel agent? What is your definition of lengthy? What are the complications you foresee that will make arranging your own travel difficult?

I have no idea what your time/budget situation is. However, I wanted to share this bit of information: Our first trip to the UK, we used a reputable travel agent. The next year we did a similar trip, making our own arrangements but with a bit nicer hotels. The "travel agent" arranged trip cost over twice as much as the nearly identical one that we arranged for ourselves.
