I will be coming from Isle of Islay by ferry and will need transportation from the port in Kennacraig to Tarbert where my hotel is for that evening. Any suggestions for how to get a taxi or bus?

By the way, if you are travelling to Islay between 19 June and 31 July there are two important things to be aware of as Port Askaig will be closed for construction work for the new bigger ferries due in the Autumn/next spring so all sailings are running to Port Ellen-
1. As it looks like the men, for their golf, are in a car, do not arrive at Port Ellen more than 90 minutes before the sailing time.
The port area only has restricted marshalling room, and will be extra busy. Before that time remain in the village outside the port area, but do arrive at the port at least 30 minutes before sailing time.
2. Port Ellen is not accessible in some weather conditions. Normally services can divert to the more sheltered Port Askaig when that happens. With no diversionary port services will be at enhanced risk of delay and cancellation in poor weather. Do keep a close eye on the CalMac disruption page the 2 or 3 days before travel and on the day of travel.
We have a current case where a forum member has been heavily impacted by short notice CalMac ferry timetable changes.
If there is disruption the City link bus can only wait for so long, so also keep the taxi number in case of need.
