Transportation Edinburgh Airport to Glasgow

Opinions needed on best option. Tram to Princes SQ + train from Waverly to Glasgow Queens station? Or, Citylink 900 from airport to Glasgow Buchanan . Both are equal distance to our hotel. If bus is the best option tips needed for purchasing tickets. Citylink website is proving problematic. Can't seem to choose one-way ticket.

On Citylink you will automatically be offered a single ticket unless you check the box that says add a return.

Or, as the journeys are code share with Megabus, book on the Megabus website- that is several pounds cheaper, even after booking fees.

Don't choose the 50 minutes past the hour bus as that serves many local stops, the #900 is a motorway express.

The bus is the fastest route.

Really, though, just buy from the driver as you don't know what time your flight will actually land, or how long it will take to clear the airport

Thanks!! Knew this group would come through. We've traveled a fair bit all over. Actually taken the tram and train on different days but when going directly the bus seemed the better option. Couldn't get a lot of info on the CityLink website for cost etc...

Booked with Citylink it is £15.80, booked with Megabus it is £9.99 + £1.50 Booking Fee.

It is 8.36pm in the UK now, I can still book at £9.99 on the Megabus website for the 8.44pm and 8.55pm buses. So as soon as you get data in the arrivals hall you can book on the spot.

I've taken the Citylink bus from Edinburgh Airport to Glasgow. It's really simple and easy.

It's been a few years but I think I bought my ticket from the driver. I try to make my travel easy and not get frustrated trying to save a few pounds.

By the way, the service is NOT numbered 900. If you look for that at the airport you won't find it (other than a few journeys in the very small hours of the morning). The 900 is the Edinburgh City Centre to Glasgow Bus. The one from the Airport (which starts there) is numbered AIR.
The 50 minutes past the hour slow bus (the one to avoid) is numbered 902.

This journey is also very doable by train, either by the fast train that goes direct into Queen Street or by the much slower train that goes direct into Glasgow Central (though that might be further from your hotel). If coming from the airport by tram then I would recommend getting off at Haymarket rather than Princes Street as this is a major tram/train interchange stop, and all trains running Edinburgh -> Glasgow also stop at Haymarket on their way. Best of luck!
