Trains from Scotland to London on Sunday 3 December

On Sunday 3 December Avanti West Coast have an ASLEF strike- no trains are expected to run at all.

By unfortunate coincidence LNER have engineering work on that day which means that no trains can run into Kings Cross. There will be a bus transfer to Cockfosters for London Underground trains. The KC closure applies to all operators including Lumo and Grand Central, also trains to Cambridge).

On Saturday 2 December the LNER strike means that the limited number of trains running will be very busy.

So best to travel on the Friday or Monday (both of which days will also be busier than normal) or use other modes of travel.

Hull Trains have arranged to run a couple of services in/out of St Pancras instead on 3 December but these will not have an advertised stop as usual at Doncaster, I imagine to stop them being overwhelmed by people connecting there. Definitely a day to avoid if possible.

Lumo are running between Edinburgh and Newcastle only, with one service in each direction extending to Peterborough for a 2hr15 min coach ride to Kings Cross.
Grand Central have cancelled all their services for the whole route from both Yorkshire and Sunderland.

This thread had vanished at one stage, so is a duplicate. However it has been updated for the buses being diverted from Bedford to Cockfosters due to a lack of capacity from Bedford.

Hull Trains departures from St Pancras are at 1230 and 1850.

Due to the extended journey times and diversion Hull Trains are also not calling at Beverley, Cottingham, Retford, Grantham and Stevenage. They are calling at Doncaster, for crew, not passenger purposes, stopping on the fast non platform lines.
