Train tickets to Edinburgh

Hello all,

I have read many times on this forum it's best to book your train tickets as early as possible so that you can get the cheaper prices. I am travelling from London to Edinburgh on 19 September and returning to London 22 September. I have looked and this far out they are still 50 pounds per person each way. Would you expect this would be the cheapest you can buy them or am I looking in the wrong place? Interestingly you can fly with Ryan Air return for less than the one way price for one person, however we would not get to see the scenery along the way. It is after all about the journey to your destination isn't it?

Would appreciate hearing if there is somewhere else I could look for cheaper prices or whether I should just book these now and be done with it.

Thanks.

Thank you. I see this. I went to the virgin rail site I believe. I will make a booking. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Travel after 9.30 am is generally cheaper.

Although an airfare may seem cheaper, the airports in Edinburgh and particularly London are miles out of town, so by the time you have added in the shuttle cost to/from the airport, the train is likely to be cheaper and you have less chance of being delayed.
