train station in Glasgow

I need to catch the train from Glasgow to Troon so does anyone have hotel recommendations close to train station?

There are multiple train stations in Glasgow, so you need to check which one your train leaves from before we can advise you.

It looks like your train to Troon will depart from Glasgow Central. I highly recommend the Grasshopper Hotel, which is right above the station, as close as you can get (if you find the right path to the station entrance!)

Trains to Troon always leave from Glasgow Central. So you want a hotel close to there. If you want budget the Premier Inn St Enoch would suit you.

For somewhere rather grander- try the Grand Central which is actually on Central Station- https://grandcentral.vocohotels.com/

For an 'in between' place I like The Merchant City Inn- https://merchantcityinn.com/

This forum also likes The Grasshoppers- https://www.grasshoppersglasgow.com/

I've stayed at all the first 3, but not the Grasshoppers.

We stayed at Motel One which is across the street from the Central Station. Considering the low price we were very surprised by the quality.

Thanks everyone for the input. I will be in Glasgow July 17-20 which is summer and British Open so hotels are hard to get. I checked Grasshopper $453 per night, The Merchant was fully booked, Motel One $320 per night, Premier Inn was the best deal $242 per night. So I have a place to land.

Wow, what a difference from what I paid at Motel One in June 2022, 336GBP for 4 nights (84GBP/night).

Wow, indeed! I paid £120 a night at Grasshoppers in 2023. Summer and the British Open does put a spin on things.

That said, I think that's smart of you to go with the Premier Inn. And I love PIs - they're good, clean, comfortable hotels with no surprises. I think you will be pleased with your stay there. I'm booked at a PI in London for 5 nights next month and am saving a lot by doing so.
