We will be in Edinburgh for 4 nights and are considering taking the train to/from Stirling one day. Please confirm if I'm reading the train fare rules correctly on Scot Rail. It looks as if the Off peak fare for 2 people is £18.80. We could take any train that day as long as it's off peak, (appears first available off peak train is 9:33am-weekdays). For the return to Edinburgh, it appears that all trains are off peak during the afternoon. With this fare, we have to travel on that day, but could be flexible in which trains we decide to catch (providing we don't leave Edinburgh before 9:33am)?
Any clarification and validation would be appreciated.
