Tour guide for hiking Glencoe

We are self-planning a 10 day trip to Scotland mostly (based off of Rick’s recommendations) in September. Edinburgh 3 nights to Oban(2 nights) to Isle of Skye (2 nights) to Inverness (1 night) st Andrew’s (1 night) and back to Edinburgh (1 night). We will have a car while not in Edinburgh. We plan to have a day to hike in Glencoe, and wonder if this day of hiking would be best served with a self guided hike or guide led. If guide led, any recommendations? We have heard it is very easy to veer off course with unmarked trails. We do have hiking apps (all trails and Gaia). We are moderate hikers in fairly decent shape. Thinking of a 3 hour hike or a few short hikes. We are basing out of Oban during this trip.

Thanks in advance for the tips. And a huge shout out to Rick for creating this site! We’ve used it so much over the years and have found some real gems and amazing experiences off of it + his books!

Walkhighlands is the go to website used for hikes/walks in Scotland..it's very good and also grades walks well.I often find the grading of walks on All Trails very odd and not useful.
Even a short walk from the top of the Glencoe chairlift is worthwhile.
If you want a 45 min to 1 hr uphill on a good path, look at the Devil's Staircase , part of the West Highland Way.Don't let the name put you off! It's all on open moorland with stunning views from the off.
You can also continue up a boggier, more eroded path from the top of the staircase to Stob Mhic Mhartuinn, a fabulous viewpoint over the glen.Another 25 mins each way or so.
You really shouldn't need a guide.

Thank you for the information. We will omit the guide and go on hikes unguided as originally planned. Great recommendations of specific hikes! We have read about several of these hikes and they sound great. As always, we appreciate the helpfulness of the RS community!

Just make sure you go on a good day as if there is low cloud or rain, route finding may not be very easy. Make sure you have a copy of the OS map and know how to map read!
