I’m back with another Scotland question.
We are taking the scenic NC500 route between Loch Carron and Ullapool. A friend has offered up her Tom Tom to help us navigate this route. However, I don’t want to pack it if it’s not needed. Has anyone had experience with this route? I’m wondering if Apple Maps suffice on this stretch of road.

There's an app for that! The Official NC500 App, which you can use offline for maps and GPS-activated audio narration. I have enjoyed a similar type of audio tour in Hawaii. I'm not sure why Ireland hasn't developed one for the Wild Atlantic Way.

Don't expect cell coverage everywhere. In May, I had both T-Mobile and O2 sim cards, and spent a lot of time without service, although we were in the Outer Hebrides. I'm not a Apple guy, but I assume you can download map info in advance when you have good Wi-Fi
We always travel with a dashboard GPS (Garmin, in my case) because I can set up detailed daily routes in advance and not need cell coverage. Voice guidance makes driving much easier, as well.
