Tipping on Rabbie's Tour?

I'm planning to take a multi-day Rabbie's tour later this year. Is tipping the bus driver/guide expected/encouraged? I've never done a guided tour of longer than a day before, so was just curious what the protocol is in the UK.

Thanks!

This is what the Rabbie's website says about tipping

"Should I tip the driver-guide?
Let’s be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky wee bonus. But it’s up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion."

Thanks, I read that. Was looking for more personal experiences from people who've gone on this type of tour :-)

Generally in the UK I think tipping is much less widespread than in the USA. For a multi day tour I'd personally tip the driver on a small bus tour like Rabbies. Maybe £5 per day? It'd have to be absolutely amazing for me to tip more than that.

I would tip as well. It’s quite usual to tip bus drivers of the sort that take you for a day trip or coach tour, generally a few pounds per person. My Uncle used to take pensioners on coach trips and he’d make quite a bit in tips. They would give him £2 each about 10 years ago.

We took 3 one-day tours with Rabbie's in September 2023. A Forum member who had also taken 3 tours previously advised me that he had tipped their Rabbie's guides 10GBP per day. We tipped the same amount. I noticed that all of the other tour participants waited around at the end of each tour to tip the guide. Don't know how much they tipped. "The others" were from the US, Canada, the UK, and Germany.
