I haven't but if you like the look of it why not go for it? I agree, the menu looks good at first sight I would assume the cooking was good, I would probably eat there based on the menu and 'About Us'.

As for asking the opinion from anyone who's eaten there, would you base the decision to go there or not on the word of a stanger on here? What if I was to say that the food was awful yet it turns out that I think Chuck E Cheeze is pushing the boat out a bit? I've learnt from past experience that what some people regard as good food clearly isn't the same as mine.

For any quality restaurant one should check before trip to see if you can book dinner ahead of travel dates. We were there off season in November, and still, many restaurants were fully booked for dinner quite a ways out.

We couldn’t go to The Table (I think that is one we tried to book...I could be wrong) because was booked well before we even left for Scotland.

Alternatively, we selected our top picks of restaurants and visited those for lunches instead. Was much more enjoyable, cheaper, relaxing.

@JC—I agree everyone has different opinions on what is a good foodie experience. However, if enough people have positive things to say, then thats good enough for me.

I do plan to make reservations before we leave for Scotland, this restaurant only takes 10 people so I plan to book the day they open for reservations.
Thank you both for your response!

Hi, diveloonie,

As you asked about The Table, I can heartily recommend Henderson's Salad Table, on Hanover Street. The food is almost all vegetarian, and has always impressed us. They've been around for 50 years, so they must be doing something right!

Just around the corner, on Thistle Street, Henderson's has recently opened an all-vegan restaurant. I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but I hope to this summer.

Bon appetit!

Haven't eaten at The Table, but we discovered a place many years ago and have had a number of memorable meals there. It is Maison Bleue at 36 Victoria St. which is off George IV Bridge St. which is just off High St. (The Royal Mile) close to the castle. Go to googlemaps.com, type in the address, and you'll be able to locate it easily. You can use the street view to "walk" to it before leaving home. You can't miss the bleue façade. We've never had a problem being seated at lunch, but dinner reservations are advised. Small place, same ownership for years, and excellent food.
