Need to depart from DFW airport late June to Glasgow ( Rick Steves Tour departs from there) - we are ladies in our :golden era" so want to do as few stops as possible as there is nothing direct. Would appreciate advice from previous travelers that have experienced this itinerary.

Go to google flights, put in your dates to see your options.
Check to see if the connections are easier if you fly into Edinburgh. The cities are not that far apart.
fly with BA - one stop at Heathrow
I agree with Ramblin On....DFW to Heathrow to Glasgow.
Both British Airways and American Airlines fly the route. British Airways would be easier because you arrive and depart from the same terminal. With American Airlines you have to change terminals but it isn't that difficult.
Buy it as one ticket. Both BA and AA can sell the route. (It's a BA plane between London and Glasgow but it may also have an AA flight number.)

Keep in mind with BA, you'll pay extra if you want to select your seats in advance, otherwise they will assign seats upon check in (not necessarily together).
AA doesn't charge to choose your seats in advance on the transatlantic flight.
The transfer between terminals at London Heathrow from AA to BA is very easy.
If you're group can find Premium Economy (World Traveler Plus on BA) fares at a good price, go for it. The larger seat, more legroom and less crowded cabin make for a more comfortable flight.
