on the 10 day favorites tour of scotland, will I need to take a swimming suit?
The Rick Steve's guided tour.
I didn't take a swimsuit on my last trip to the UK but then I stayed where there was an indoor pool and I was sorry.
There are public access swim and fitness centers if you'd like a swim. I wouldn't count on swimming in the sea, unless there is a super heat wave.
I have not gone swimming during my trips to Scotland, but I have a friend from England who LOVES to take a dip in the sea. That said, it doesn't look like the Best of Tour gets near any beaches. The closest looks like Ganavan near Oban and that is 2.6 miles from City Centre. If you have the urge to swim in the loch you'll need to work on it. :)
thank you for your responses. will have to think about it more
And there is a super heat wave! Scotland recorded its hottest-ever temperature yesterday!
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-44683637
"Scotland has recorded its hottest ever temperature, according to provisional figures from the Met Office.
On Thursday 28 June, a temperature of 33.2C degrees was measured in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.
It exceeds the 32.9C recorded in August 2003, at Greycrook in the Borders.
Forecasters also said average temperatures made it the fourth hottest June ever experienced in Scotland.
It was the fourth sunniest June for the UK overall.
On Thursday, high temperatures triggered speed restrictions on rail routes in central Scotland and roads melted in Aberdeenshire, Moray and Fife.
The "weatherproof" membrane on Glasgow Science Centre's roof melted and dripped black "goo" down the building.
Thursday 28 June became Scotland's warmest day of 2018 so far.
The sweltering spell has continued into July, with many parts enjoying temperatures around the mid-to-high 20s."
For the US: 32-33C=90ishF. But beware the water in the sea or loch at that latitude can be very cold. Look for a shallow sandy beach that may have a chance to warm up the water. You may want to wear a swimsuit if you go boating.
