That is something. I wonder what the feedback will be from the community. I went to that Tesco several times on a Saturday just in case. :-)
It has been confirmed today that Sunday opening will commence on 17 November from 12pm to 8pm (late opening to allow for worship in the morning)
It was only 2009 that the ferries started running on a Sunday so that is quick for the Tesco to open! It was Lewis that had the reputation of chaining the swings in the children's play parks on Sunday.
The Western Isles is religiously split between the Wee Free north, and the Catholic south, and the sabbatarianism is very much part of the north of the isles. This is referenced in Whisky Galore on the fictional island when the wee frees have to finish at midnight on Saturday, but the Catholics get to continue the salvage operation.
