Stirling, St Andrew's & Fife Coast

We will be ending our trip in Scotland by heading south from the Highlands in the end of June/beginning of July. We have three nights available and am looking for advice on where to spend them. Should we stay in one place areas for all 3 nights and drive around to all the places from there, or spend 2 nights in one place and one in the other? We enjoy hiking, food, music & history. Thanks

I would stay in one place as I am not a fan of one night stops; however, if you are then heading to Edinburgh, I would be tempted to have 2 nights on the coast and your third night in Stirling.

I think the nicest part of the coast is between Earlsferry and Pittenweem - the East Neuk. The coastal path walks are good. Anstruther and Crail are ok but not as pretty. St Andrews is an easy drive from here. Falkland Palace and garden is worth a visit.

Another vote for st Andrews and the Fife coast. You could easily fill in the time there as there is so much to see and do. Have a look at this website for ideas.

Not mentioned here but also worth considering is a boat trip to the Isle of May for the seabirds. Alternatively take the boat to Inchcolm Abbey on a tiny island in the Firth of Forth.

The ancient Royal Burgh of Culross is also well worth adding to the list of places to visit.
