Stirling Castle to Doune Castle Parking

We will be visiting in September and the plan was to book a time for Stirling Castle first,, allow two hours to visit, then give half an hour to get to Doune Castle. I saw on the website that their parking has been cut in half and can be an issue. I’m concerned about booking a reservation and not being able to find parking in time to make it in time Has anyone else been there recently?

We visited Doune castle in late September 2022. It’s only 8 miles from Stirling. There was no line to get in and only a couple other cars in the small (maybe 20 places) lot. We didn’t have a reservation and walked right in. Unless you go there when there’s an event taking place parking shouldn’t be an issue. If half the lot is closed there is a small road that you could probably park along or they’d make a temporary lot since there is space for a number of vehicles to the left of the entrance.

The castle itself isn’t very large. We were probably there about 1.5 hours at most.

There's no need to book tickets for Doune Castle. If you check their booking page, you can see they have plenty of tickets available even for tomorrow... So, take your time for Stirling castle (you may need longer than two hours there) and then drive to Doune, find somewhere to park and buy your tickets when you arrive.
