Stirling Castle or Blair Castle??

Will be traveling by car from Edinburgh to Inverness and, if picking one, which castle would you visit? Or is there a better castle site I should be considering?

I have been to Stirling Castle but not Blair Castle. I enjoyed Stirling very much, particularly when I took their free tour.

I'm the same and haven't been to Blair but loved Stirling, it's worth a day in itself and maybe not as part of a drive to Inverness. We spent about 5.5 hours there.

I have been to both castles at least twice now. Stirling is a very dramatic and rugged castle from the outside standing high up on a volcanic rock. It has a very important history for Scotland. You can watch a documentary on Netflix "Secrets of Great British Castles" by Historian Dan Jones. It is a superb series. Season 1 E 5 features Stirling Castle. Blair Castle is not featured in the series. - Blair Castle, to me with its white-washed walls looks more like a big country estate. It is not dramatic from the outside but pretty. The interior is quite stunning with the rooms fully decorated. It is near Pitlochry and would be on your way to Inverness. It is hard to pick which one is better because they are so different. Sterling Castle will be a little out of your way but not by much.

Thanks for the insights. I'm leaning towards Stirling, not only because of the castle's historical relevance, but, if we're there when the gates open, we might also fit in a fixture or two at Perth Racecourse that afternoon!
