My sister, a family friend and I will be traveling to Scotland for the first time. We expect to arrive in Edinburgh and drive to Stirling for a few days. Our intent is to stay in the Stirling area for 3-5 days using it as a home base for day trips. I'm hoping to learn more about booking and traveler's experience with such accommodations in the area - use of HolidayLettings, VRBO, etc. Thanks!

I have stayed many times in the area, and particularly recommend the properties in the grounds of Kilbryde Castle just outside Dunblane. Kilbryde Castle They are on various platforms or can be booked direct. Gardener's Cottage and Smiddy Cottage are two that I've stayed in. Of the two Smiddy Cottage is my preferred option. It has a lovely open plan living area with a log burner.
