Just FYI, Staffa island is being closed "after the breeding season in August" to tourists for major repairs to the damage done by us tourists. The boat tours will presumably mention this, be be fore-warned. Maybe someone knows the exact date.

Oh, darn! We'll be on Mull in September and had planned to visit Staffa. After Iona I guess we'll just have to get delightfully lost exploring Mull. Thanks for posting this info.
I'm glad they are being conservationists. However, we loved Staffa and those who travel to Scotland and don't get to go, will indeed be missing out. The basalt cave and puffins were wonderful!
Thanks for posting - but it makes me happy I will be there in July. I have my visit already booked!
I'm headed to Scotland mid-August and contacted West Coast Tours regarding this as you can still purchase tickets through them that include Staffa. They have not been responsive thus far :/ As it is already late in the planning process for the high season I believe I will just book Mull & Iona to insure we can do a tour at all.
Thank you for this information. I have already purchased the Three Isles Tour from West Coast Tours and no mention of this on their website or at time of purchase. Guess we'll be spending the extra time on Mull.
I asked the captain on our trip a few days ago and I think he planned to visit without landing.
