The Leverburgh to Berneray Sound of Harris ferry is now cancelled until the end of the Summer Timetable at least due to technical problems. EDIT 15 September- Now expected to be off service until March 2027.
A passenger only Charter is running in its place, and a limited inter island vehicle ferry running from Tarbert (Harris) to Lochmaddy (Uist) subject to fleet availability.
This is changing on a weekly basis, and the passenger charter is also subject to weather.
CalMac will be in touch with affected passengers in due course and in date order.
EDIT- Between 28 September and 18 October the MV Loch Bhrusda will now be able to provide a vehicle ferry service, daytime sailings only. So, together with tidal constraints the timetable will become increasingly limited during October.
This is subject to her being released from the Small Isles if the MV Loch Nevis returns on time from dry dock.
She is a smaller vessel so capacity will be limited.
The Loch Portain (the normal route vessel) is unlikely to be back anytime soon, so service between 18 October and March 2027 is currently unknown. During winter dry docking there is a shortage of ships to either cover this route or provide a replacement Tarbert to Lochmaddy service
