Sleeping in Glasgow

My husband and I will be traveling in Scotland for 12 days in August, 2025. We will be spending two nights in Glasgow. Does anyone have an opinion on where to stay? Downtown or West End?
We will not have a car and will be using public transportation our entire trip.
Thanks,
Linda

I'd probably say the city centre. Downtown isn't a term used in the UK really, but most will know what you mean. City centre or town centre is the British English equivalent.

I'd say the city centre because you've only got two nights. The west end offers a different experience, it's quite green, leafy and quite attractive in places. Good pubs and restaurants and Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery is sort of a must if you're visiting Glasgow.

The west end is best if you want to immerse yourself in the city a bit more in my opinion. "Live like a local" if you will.

The city centre is best if you've got limited time I suppose. It's a vibrant, colourful part of town, colourful in the evenings and weekend but still safe. Plenty to do and see and probably within walking distance of the main railway stations. Others may be able to make a better case for the city centre than I have :)
