Skye music festival

I just heard about the Skye music festival, which will be held in Portree the same time as my planned visit in 2027. Is this something that will make the already crowded island more so? should I avoid Skye at that time? try to book for a different time? Does anyone have any experience with this? Skyegirl? Thanks Sue

There are a couple of festivals each year. Do you mean Skye Live? It's just happened for 2026 and I don't think dates are officially announced yet for 2027 but it's usually the first weekend in May.

If so then Portree might be busier, but other parts of the island no more busy than usual.

If a different festival could you let me know which one?

Thanks

That is the one. My B&B texted me to warn me about it. She has since said this year's guests said it didn't keep them awake She thinks it will be the weekend of the 8th when I will be there. With your comments about the rest of Skye, and hers, I think I'll keep my plans as they are. thanks Sue

If you enjoy live music and want to experience a mix of Scottish musical types and genres then you might actually enjoy the festival. It’s a family atmosphere. I teach piano at the high school and many of my pupils and their families attended. It’s a safe and friendly festival. Website is here and will be updated as the 2027 event draws nearer. There’s a video on the website to give a flavour.
It’s always a sell out, but as you can see from the aerial photo the site is quite small, so not massive crowds.
