SIngle Track Roads

I know a lot of visitors can be nervous on driving on our single track roads. And when this instructor posted a video doing the driving test route popped up I thought it might be of interest. Mallaig has the highest pass rate of a test centre in Great Britain and the route covers some single track roads and how to deal.

The channel might also be useful as a way of learning what the roads are like in the UK.

The single track roads on the mainland are in far better shape than our poor single tracks in Skye. Ours are more like potholes joined by random bits of patched tarmac! In contrast Shetland, where I am currently on holiday, the roads are superb, even the single tracks. Locals tell me it’s as a result done with the oil companies when Sullum Voe was developed. Apparently the islands received an amount per barrel of oil, which was invested in a trust and still provides income for infrastructure projects.

@skyegirl, yup. I've heard the same. The change in conditions of the roads from Orkney to Caithness has always surprised me. Orkney they are snooker table smooth, Caithness is ... you can navigate by braille.

Great info. And I recommend reading this thread for the jokes if nothing else, LOL.
