Sim cards or E-Sims

Anyone have experience with E-Sims for their phones while traveling in England, Scotland and Ireland?

We used Airalo when we were in the UK last fall. Worked fine

I've used Airalo the last few UK trips and no issues. I had service on Skye with it as well.

The one e-sim works for all UK and Ireland?

The UK one will work in all of the UK. I don’t know about Ireland since it isn’t the UK. Only Northern Ireland is UK. But you can get a Europe one which will cover both the UK and Ireland.

We've used GiffGaff several times in the UK and Ireland. Recent rule changes by the EU forces GiffGaff to only work in the EU/Ireland if you use it at least once in the UK/Scotland beforehand. As long as you connect in the UK first, Ireland will work.

We typically use about 3gb of data in three weeks (we have a dashboard GPS for driving which is offline) walking around between pubs, email, weather, etc. That's L10 with Giffgaff, although you should add a few pounds of extras for texts/calls to the US.

Nomad is another well-regarded supplier of eSIMs. Also check out esimdb.com; you can find a wide variety of offerings there.
