Has anyone traveled to Uyea? Just found an ancestor who lived there. Would love to see the Island but have read no one lives there.

I have never been to Uyea but I have been to Shetland in 2010. My 2nd great grandfather came from Shetland. We visited the Hamefarin June 2010. We visited several islands Unst, Yell, mainland. Stayed on west burra by Banninman beach. It is a fabulous place to visit. I am trying to figure a way to get back there. We are planning on doing the RS scandinavia tour in 2020 and May try to going there after the tour.

We inquired about it in Lerwick and were told no reason to visit it. If you have ancestral roots there then that alone could be a reason for a stop though. There is plenty to see and do in Shetland Islands. We did a week there and hit 3 of the islands.
