Sheepdog Demonstrations?

After watching Rick's videos on Scotland for our trip in mid- late April, I wanted to try to find a sheepdog demonstration to see while on our trip. The one he shows in his video and is on the website does not open until June 1. Is anyone aware of any that may be open in the middle to end of April? Thank you in advance.

You may find most places don't open until June. They may still, still be lambing in April and too busy.

Hello,

We will be traveling in May and they will not be open. They sent me an email and stated they were in "lambing" season and would not be doing demonstrations.

They did mention that IF they had a large tour group they would and said contact them to see if anything had been arranged.

I had the same situation in May a couple of years ago. I contacted the place mentioned in the RS guidebook, and they said they were not open to the public then but sometimes had large tour groups come through. I left them my email address and asked to be contacted if they were hosting any large groups that I could piggyback on. When I was in Scotland I got a message saying that if I could get to their farm in three days I could see the demonstration with a group. Luckily I was nearby and was able to make it, and it was a fantastic experience. So don't give up....keep contacting them to see if you can get in with a group.

This sounds like the sheep farm near Aviemoor. When we visited the farm a RS tour arrived--bus load of people. It was a great herding show. We not only got to pet the lambs but there was a litter of puppies to pet. The owner handed me clippers and let me have a try at shearing--not that easy.
