Good day! I am going to be on a 13 day tour in April. I am a knitter/crocheter and I spin my own yarn. Does the sheep farm we will visit have its own shop? I am particularly interested in fiber/roving that I can spin into my own yarn.
It depends which sheep farm you are visiting.
We went on the shorter Scotland tour, and the sheepdog farm didn't have a shop. It was, however, so much fun! Perhaps the one you go to will, however. Good luck!
You need to contact the RS tour office to see if they can answer your question. That’s if you will be on a RS tour.
If you are on the Rick Steves Best of Scotland tour the farmer we visited was Neil Ross.
There was no shop, no bathroom. We went to lunch afterward at a nearby cafe which did have facilities.
This would be a good thing to ask your guide at your initial meet up in case they have changed farmers. I doubt Neil has added any amenities as he didn't really seem all that people-oriented.
I can confirm what Pam said. I took this tour in 2024.
Thanks everyone. I am will ask our guide,
Has anyone been able to make contact with Neil Ross (workingsheepdogs) this year. I sent a message a week ago (last week of March) and haven't gotten as response.
Good chance a sheep farmer is busy with lambing right now, rather than emails. Especially if as Pam put it so tactfully, he "didn't really seem all that people-oriented". :)
as GerryM says - they will be on 24 hour days up to their eyeballs in pregnant ewes and new lambs, new mothers, highs and lows of lambing, and all the considerations thereunto.
I would give it a few weeks
Have you noticed that they are also dealing with Storm Dave?
