Seven days to plan between Inverness and Edinburgh

My friend I are planning to rent a car in Inverness and drive west and north before heading back to Edinburgh. We have 7 days and 8 nights available for this part of our Scotland trip. Suggestions?

Note that we will have already spent 3 days in Edinburgh, 3 days in Glasgow, hiked the whole West Highland Way, spent 3 nights in Oban, and done a barge trip through the Caledonian Canal.

Thank you!

You probably want to stick to the east side of Scotland then. What sort of things are you interested in doing/seeing , as that will help suggest an itinerary.

You are spoilt for choice and can easily spend 7-8 nights exploring that area. There's Aberdeenshire with its castles and whisky or the Cairngorms including the area around Balmoral and Ballater. There's also the coast or the Angus Glens (much ignored by the visitors). Fife with its fishing villages is delightful with places like Falkland which stod in for Inverness in the Outlander series.

I agree with wasleys. You don’t really have time to get to the Outer Hebrides or Orkney/Shetland and you’ll have seen quite a bit of the west highlands already. The Fife coast is lovely and very different from the west and Falkland is a nice little place.
