I will be driving from St. Andrews to Inverness. I need a referal for a stop mid way. A town or a country inn.

Blair Atholl would be a good place, esp if the castle is open. Or Pitlochry.

When is your trip? Pit stop and meal? Or a tourist site to spend time at? If the former, Pitlochry is pretty and a bit over mid way. If the latter, Blair Castle, if you are travelling during their open period.
ETA - oops, looks like I was writing as MC Glasgow was posting. And there's only one T in Scotland

Pitlochry gets my vote too. Nice wee high street. Good spot for lunch. The walk to the dam and fish ladder stretches the legs after driving. Blair Castle is worth the stop. Timing depends on their opening hours. Killiecrankie sits nearby. Good short walk through the gorge to stretch further.

Pitlochry is a lovely, buzzy, busy wee town, very enjoyable and with some good places to stay and eat. The Old Mill Inn does very good food.The Moulin Inn above town, does decent pub fare.
Dunkeld is also an attractive place though with less choice re eating out.
It’s probably to soon in your journey but the Meikleour Arms hotel stands on its own within a tiny . tiny old village, very pretty and is SO atmospheric re accommodation.Charming.Excellent food too.
