Scottland Castle Tour resources

Hello Travelers!

In July 2024, my wife and I are taking our new High School Graduate (daughter) to Scotland for her senior trip with a stop over in London and Liverpool. My daughter wants to badly tour all the best castles in Scotland. We had planned on booking a five day bus tour with four city destinations. However, we were just informed the tour company is cutting this bus tour from their offerings.

Any recommendations for a multi-day tour of all the best castles in Scottland? (public or private).

Is their a Scotland travel agent or expert that could help make arrangements that knows his/her stuff?

Thank You in Advance!! JonkneeB

It would probably be helpful to know how your daughter defines "castle". Does she want to include ruined castles? Does she want to include palaces (not fortified)? Does she want to include stately homes?

Look at www.visitscotland.com, it is a gateway site with information and photos of the different areas of Scotland. It has info on different admission passes, transportation and accommodations. You can preview the different castles and palaces that are historic and open to the public. Some have used Rabbies Tours in Scotland and have been happy, Since you are planning go to Liverpool you will be near several Castles in Wales: Conwy and Beaumaris, etc. You can purchase a Welsh Castle Pass at your 1st stop. Enjoy your research: Look up the Mary Queen of Scots Trail on Historic Scotland site; it has a wonderful collection of Castles.

I KNOW you said Scottish Castles, lol, but 2 of the "best" castles in my mind are ones you'd see in London....Tower of London and Windsor Castle.

Is she an Outlander fan or maybe knowing what she's been reading will help with suggestions. And yes, does she want ruins or whole castles, lol!
