I'm planning a trip through England over to Ireland in May with my wife and adult daughter. Planning to drive from London, through York to the North Lake district. Then catching a ferry from Cairnryan, Scotland to either Belfast or Larne in N Ireland. Any recommendations for traveling or sightseeing on the way from Carlisle to the ferry? Also any recommendations on which ferry is better for the crossing?
On the way from Carlisle to the ferry you'll be passing through Robert Burns country. Here is a list of "the best Robert Burns attractions in Scotland," many of which are in Ayrshire. https://theculturetrip.com/europe/united-kingdom/scotland/articles/the-best-robert-burns-attractions-in-scotland/
Thanks. Sounds like some great places to visit. Will add them to the list.
