It's an interesting selection although I'm not sure some of them would feature in my top 15 list...
I saw the link to this article when I was looking at the article you posted about the English castles. I've only been to 4 of these as well, and was not in love with Edinburgh Castle and Cawdor. Both were kind of "meh" to me (although I know I'm in the minority with regards to that). :-) I like ruins better anyway, and was happy to see Slains Castle on the list.
Kilchurn Castle looks like it's in a gorgeous setting, and Dunrobin Castle looks pretty impressive, too. I will have to add those to my list. Thanks, wasleys!
Half of that list aren’t castles.
Camborne2018, true. Some of these are “stately homes” rather than actual castles or the ruins thereof.
Mardee, the setting of Kilchurn Castle is indeed a stunner. (I saw it as part of Discover Scotland’s Highland Lochs, Glens, and Castles tour.) But if you clamber over the gate for a closer look, watch where you step—the field is inhabited by sheep and is a bit of a minefield of their poop. :)

It all depends on the definition of a castle... When does a castle become a stately home?
