I will be traveling from Inverness to Oban-stay a few days and then hop on train to Edinburgh.
The transportation options from Inverness to Oban- 2 hour drive, 4 hour bus and 7+ hour train-
I don't see any one way car rentals so I am thinking it best to find driver, such as Uber, to drive me there.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!
Inverness to Oban is not a 2 hour drive. Much closer to the 4 hours that the bus would take. I'd allow at least 3 hours if I was driving it. I doubt very much that you will find a driver for a reasonable price. Most locals would simply take the bus. Uber does not exist in rural Scotland.
We drove the Inverness to Oban route two years ago, no way you do it in 2 hours. Google Maps says 2:45 and I'd add 30% to that. I'd also consider driving to either Glasgow or Edinburgh from Oban. Try Celtic Legend. We picked up in Edinburgh and dropped off in Glasgow. I believe there is an Inverness branch, I don't know about Oban.
THANK YOU ALLAN, appreciate the tip for Celtic Legends car rental- I am a bit nervous about driving in the cities like Edinburgh but may go for it, since a car offers the flexibility to check out stops along the way- between Inverness-Oban-Edinburgh.
