Scotland-Ireland tour timing

I'd like to schedule a back-to-back Rick Steves 7-day Ireland tour/8-day Scotland tour, but the timing looks off. Either I'd end one tour and start the other the next day, which doesn't seem doable, or I'd have about six days between. If any of you have done this, what did you do for those unscheduled days?

I haven't done any back-to-back tours, but I almost always add days before and after tours. Cities are easy to spend time in, even as a women traveling solo.

Simple.. after Dublin, head up to Belfast for a few days, then fly to Glasgow for a couple of days before taking the train up to Inverness to start your tour.

Or if it is the next day (ie back to back tours) then Loganair have DUB-INV flights on certain days of the week. On every day there are DUB-GLA, DUB-EDI and DUB-Aberdeen (ABZ) flights on various carriers. From any of these airports there is bus transfer to the local rail station then train (or Inter City coach) to INV. Any of those is easy to do in the day.
