Scotland in a limited time

Heading to Glasgow on 7/21 for a wedding in Ayr on 7/23 and only have until 7/27 before heading to London for a few days. Need suggestions on the best way to see Scotland and must sees in the short time we have. We are planning 2 days in Edinburgh and need suggestions on 3 other days. Thank you!

You asked in the other post about Arran. It deserves a couple of days in its own right. Based on your times you are probably best concentrating on the central belt. Will you be having a car? If so as the wedding is in Ayr you are in the heart of Burns' country, there is the NTS museum at his birthplace just outside Ayr, and elsewhere in Ayrshire is Culzean Castle and its parkland (NTS), and that is just the start. It is also easily commutable into Glasgow which has its sights.

Thank you for the information. The wedding we will be attending is at the Culzean Castle so we thinking then the next day going to Arran overnight then to Edinburgh. Trying to get the most in a short time. Thanks again.

You might want to think about taking a "scenic" (long) route over to Edinburgh. What if you to the ferry from Arran to Argyll? You Could stay in Inveraray. The Campbell Castle is there. Then there are a variety of ways you could go to get to Edinburgh the next day. One would take you down past Loch Lomond, another would take you through the Trossachs on the east side of Loch Lomond. I should do the second one. :) The viamichelin route has you going all the way into Killin, but you wouldn't have to. If you did go into Killin you could up Loch Tay and south to Edinburgh on the A9. It would longer though.

The Duke of Argyle's Campbell Clan home is worth a visit: the display of Swords is spectacular. We stayed in a Manor Farmhouse B & B. We ate at a very nice family style restaurant with a view of Loch Awe. It has been a while so I might not be able to find the names but you can easily find similar places on-line.

Thank you all for the ideas. No, we weren't planning on getting a car but sounds like it would be easier if we did.
