Scotland - Dundee Accommodations

Dundee - Two Nights - Two Rooms

I'm looking for accommodation suggestions for a two-night stay in Dundee. After researching for hours, I'm still having trouble determining which hotels are in the best location for sightseeing, restaurants, and such.

I would love any info you can share!

Thank you!

I recently stayed in the Staybridge Suites in Dundee. I found it a very good location. Walkable to the V&A and Discovery and also near an M&S Simply Food grocery store which was handy for picking up breakfast supplies to have in the suite (which came with a kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom). There was limited parking on site, but a car park just 2 minutes walk away. I'd certainly stay there again.

A wee bit of Dundee history might enlighten your choice. Back in the 19th century when Dundee was in its heyday as the center of the world for industrial textiles, the rich robber barons of the time built their villas 4 miles east (upwind) of the factories and tenements, in Broughty Ferry. It was known as the richest square mile in Europe at the time.
Today, Broughty Ferry boasts the oldest railroad station still in use in Scotland, a blue flag rated beach, a 15th century castle and dolphins frolicking in the river Tay. There are quick rail and bus links into downtown Dundee which at night can be a bit rougher around the edges than BF. We stayed at the Ashley House Guest House in Broughty Ferry. It had the charm and coziness of a proper Scottish B&B.
I would highly recommend visiting Verdant Works while in Dundee. It was an exceptional working museum that brought to light the history and life that built this area of Scotland. Dundee is an often overlooked corner of Scotland but those in the know treasure this gem wholeheartedly. Exciting travels!

I've stayed at the Staybridge Suites a few times including earlier this month. It's quiet and clean. Free breakfast, evening reception M-W and a free laundry room. They have one bedroom suites with a pull out sofabed in the living room. If you need two rooms that won't be a problem.

Dundee is not that big. Nothing is really more than a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Much of the center is a pedestrian area.

Connected to the Staybridge is a Hotel Indigo. Same management and check in area but different concept. If you don't need the kitchen, the Indigo might be the way to go. (There is also a restaurant on the premises. (Daisy Tasker).
