Scotland Car Hire without air conditioning.

Hi.

Can I rent a car without a/c at the end of Sept in Scotland?

Are you asking if it’s possible to rent a car without aircon, or whether you would be able to do without it at that time of the year?

Yes of course you can do without it, but I'd be surprised if a rental car came without it. I rarely use my air con and live in Skye year round.

My car A/C is only on occasionally, so car A/C can be switched off. It is unlikely you will find, not impossible though, a car without A/C as it is a given on all except the most basic cars now.

I agree with the above. My rental car in Scotland was an economy car and the option for A/C was there, although I did not use it at all (this was in May of this year).

Depending on the car's ventilation system, you might want to turn on both a/c and (low) heat if it's fairly warm out but raining. Here in New England, I often have to do this when driving in rainy summer conditions, otherwise the windshield fogs up or -- if I only use heat/defroster -- it gets uncomfortably warm inside the car.

Tagging on to epltd's, comment , the combination of heat and ac is something I also use . Particularly in winter I temper the heat by running the ac simultaneously to keep the windows from fogging up . One other thing about ac - even if its cool outside , an advantage to the ac is that you don't have to listen to road noise . Not an issue in the Highlands , I would agree , but anywhere near a more populated area ,and some M and A roads , it's an advantage
