Hello! We are traveling to the UK for our two week school holiday at the end of December overlapping with Christmas and New Years. We have 3 children who will be 12, 10, 8 and are seasoned mild mannered travelers. They are well suited to lots of settings including Bed and Breakfasts that are family welcoming. Anyways! We are looking to spend the Christmas days in Edinburgh and we are looking for suggestions for boutique hotels or bed and breakfast options. We typically book at least two rooms (depending on the layout one parent stays in each). We are looking for warm Christmas options. Our budget range typically falls around $300-$500/night though we aren't aiming for high, ha, and some of our very best stays have not hit those ceilings. I could see a place with more director booking--communicating with the owner--as being a great option for this time of year. Self catering is also an option. A recent stay in Ireland that worked so great for our family was https://roundwoodhouse.com/ . Appreciate all your suggestions!
I can't recommend a hotel. But when looking ask them what they offer on 25th, and any restaurants nearby that serve Christmas Dinner. Very, very little is open on Christmas Day. Only restaurants you need to book in advance, and a few convenience stores in the morning.
It can be a nice day for an afternoon walk before or after dinner, though before make sense as you may end up consuming enough calories for a rugby team.
You might check out the Resident Edinburgh.
The hotel recently opened. Each room has a small kitchenette which might be helpful with the kids.
Resident Hotels is a small chain in the UK that is known for great service. Each is a run like a small boutique hotel even though the Edinburgh branch is their largest. They will respond to your emails, and phone calls, promptly.
